It’s no wonder the medieval district is so popular: foreign travelers and Italian tourists alike enjoy its “village vibe” as compared to the rest of the old city, and value the slower pace as well as the decrease in levels of traffic and… chaos there.

In the thick of Trastevere life

While Via Natale Del Grande is a stones’ throw (we know many websites that are using this expression for no reason, but when we say it, we mean it!) from the medieval part of Trastevere with its landmarks, this street is more modern.

Places like the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere, Via della Lungaretta, the Ponte Sisto bridge are still minutes from the apartment, but on the plus side this flat is also in an elevator-equipped building, which is no small feat in this area of town.

This accommodation is also around the corner from the open-air market in San Cosimato, in the piazza by the same name – small but surprisingly well-stocked (like the many delis and grocery stores downstairs from the apartment). “San Cosimato”, for short, is the heart of this part of the borough and a lovely place to experience the autenthic Roman way of life.

Piazza San Cosimato is also the place to be in the summertime, when it becomes the backdrop for a popular series of free cinema events.

Where modernity and history meet
