Made with love at From Home to Rome: What’s in our books?
When you’re a guest at one of From Home to Rome’s managed apartments, you will always find what we refer to as “our books”. It’s a direct expression of our own love for traveling and exploring, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we did when we compiled them!
That’s right: as lifelong travellers ourselves, we stay in accommodations (whether hotels, bed and breakfasts, hostels, rental apartments…) where the only info on the new city we’re visiting is often just a slip of paper with a Wi-Fi password, emergency numbers or when our checkout is due. While extremely welcome, these details are not enough for us! So when it was our turn to welcome our very first guests, we thought long and hard about how to turn this part of the experience into something special, too.
Our very own Rome travel guides
And there you have it – every single one of the apartments we operate has its own “handbook”. Each one is different, tailored to the area of the city you will be staying in. Each of these city guides is born out of a desire to make guests really feel at home – it’s not just our catchphrase! We really feel that the best holiday is a result of not feeling rushed and overwhelmed – the accommodation is a large part of it, but so is information. Which is exactly what we provide: a collection of tips, facts and general knowledge about Rome, so you can enjoy the city knowing that everything you can possibly need is at your fingertips.
Taxi services? We’ve got your back! Where’s the closest hospital? Not only we tell you that, but we show you on a map how to get there. You need an ATM, or are unsure of where to find a grocery store? It’s all in our booklets! Not only we cover the immediate areas around the apartment you’ve chosen for you and your family, but we also give general advice on Rome – for instance, where to find LGBTQIA-friendly establishments in the city – on how to be a considerate neighbour in the building where you’re staying.
From Home to Rome’s very own tips on where to eat
And there’s more: we share tips on where to have a nice meal, the best gelato, or just a glass of wine – as well as luggage storages, useful apps for your mobile phone or how to make the most of Rome’s mass transit system. No-one is paying us to do that – we honestly enjoy having our lunch breaks or aperitivo in the places we list, and we enjoy sharing them with you all!
Our lists are constantly updated – they reflect places going out of business (alas!) or new rules on how to book tickets (for instance). You can also see the most recent version of our tips on this page.
Feel like something missing? Is there anything you would like to see listed? Get in touch and let us know – we’ll do our best to give you more honest advice!
