The apartment on Via Mecenate is something new for From Home to Rome, as it’s the first time we find ourselves managing a flat in one of our favorite areas in central Rome, between the Basilica of Saint Mary Major and Via Merulana.
Even if, technically speaking, the street the accommodation is on is part of the Monti district (where we already have been renting Via dei Capocci), the feeling is completely different: gone are the medieval houses, gone are the winding alleys. This part of Rome is known for its airy boulevards, 19th century elegant buildings and for being almost devoid of tourists despite its closeness to the main train & bus station at Roma Termini.
In an upscale, quiet part of the city with plenty of attractions, including theatres, cinemas, museums, Roman remains, ancient churches as well as bars, cafes and restaurants, Via Mecenate is a two bedrooms, two bathrooms apartment that was recently renovated to mix a modern, minimalist-style decor with ancient pieces of furniture.

With wooden floors, double glazing, A/C in every room, and a smart TV to accommodate your every need, entertainment-wise, this apartment offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of a modern Roman family.
Via Mecenate can sleep up to 6 people, thanks to the sofa in the spacious living room, and by choosing this accommodation you will be able not only to explore an otherwise lesser known area at will: you will also have the chance of reaching some of Rome’s major landmarks in minutes, including the Colosseum and Forum, as well as St. John Lateran or the Domus Aurea.
More monuments can be reached by subway or bus: for example the Vatican, Campo de’ Fiori or Trevi Fountain. A true gem, in a (still!) authentic part of Rome!
